Closest job titleExpert / Lead Real-Time 3D Engineer · 3D Solutions Architect
SenioritySenior — 10 years designing and building real-time 3D applications, including rendering architecture and end-to-end ownership of performance trade-offs
Verifiable specialismReal-time 3D in the browser (Three.js, Babylon.js, WebGL, GLSL) and on desktop (Unreal Engine 5, C++ exposed to Blueprint); parametric configurators and LLM / computer-vision integration
Client domainsRetail & e-commerce (IKEA, Maria Tash), medical robotics (CMR Surgical), logistics (warehouse configurator), training & simulation, aeronautics (Airbus H160 training tool)
AvailabilityImmediate, no notice period.
Contract typeOpen to permanent employment, fixed-term or long engagements, and freelance work — the contract frame is not a selection criterion, the project is.
Work setupFully remote, or hybrid around Metz / Grand Est (Nancy, Luxembourg). Available to travel for workshops, sprints or key meetings.
LeadershipTechnical lead and owner of the rendering architecture on multi-month engagements; 8 years of university teaching and training. Coordinated a mixed team — a 3D artist and a front-end developer — on the Maria Tash engagement; led a team of two developers and a 3D artist on OMAK Virtual Island.
EducationMaster's in control engineering — process control, and a bachelor's in electrical engineering (Université de Tlemcen). The mathematics is directly applied: kinematics, simulation, linear algebra
2016 — 2019 overlapIndependent work (from 09/2016) overlaps the end of the university work: the teaching post ended 06/2018, the training ran from 09/2017 to 06/2019. Both ran in parallel, at partial load.

    Expert / Lead Real-Time 3D Engineer · Solutions architect

Independent · real-time 3D on web and desktop, parametric configurators

    • Maria Tash — Try On Studio 20 months

Led the full Three.js implementation inside a React application. Custom GLSL shaders for gemstone rendering and real-time ear deformation; integrated three-mesh-bvh for collision detection. 60 FPS held on mobile. Live in production, publicly accessible.

    • IKEA — IPEX 18 months

Architected a reusable module converting 2D layouts into interactive 3D scenes. Designed the scene structure and instancing strategies; owned the rendering architecture, performance trade-offs and scalability. Plan → scene conversion under 50 ms (parse + build).

    • CMR Surgical — Virtual Operating Room 6 months

An interactive virtual environment reproducing the behaviour of the Versius surgical robot: inverse kinematics constrained by angular limits, direct manipulation. Used for commercial demonstration and for training.

    • Virtual island — client under NDA

Converted a 2 GB Blender environment (hundreds of trees, street lamps, benches, buildings) into a web scene. Under 30 MB shipped — a factor of 68 — at 60 FPS on web and mobile, using GPU instancing and Draco compression.

Configurators

Parametric products and desktop 3D

The work that has no plate of its own — configurators, constraint engines, real-time desktop.

  • Warehouse Configurator

2D to 3D conversion, a catalogue of glTF modules, PBR materials, colour and texture customisation, geometry placed under footprint constraints.

    glTFPBRParametric geometryThree.js
  • Spatial feasibility engine (personal R&D)

A deterministic engine for spatial rules and constraints: validating clearances, accessibility and usage scenarios, with multi-criteria scoring. Decoupled architecture, exposable as an API.

  • Home configurators & immersive experiences

3D house configurators, a virtual showroom, apartment walkthroughs, and a 3ds Max plugin for tooling and asset preparation, reused from project to project.

  • Real-time architectural visualisation (Unreal Engine 5)

Interactive architectural visualisation experiences: staging, real-time lighting and materials, scene optimisation and packaging of deliverables. C++ classes exposed to Blueprint (UCLASS / UFUNCTION / UPROPERTY) so artists get reusable interaction blocks without writing code.

  • LLM-assisted 3D scene configurator

An LLM used as an intent interpretation engine: it translates a natural-language description into structured, validatable commands executed by a real-time 3D engine. The model generates no geometry — the scene stays deterministic.

Technical detail — for a lead, a CTO or a technical screen

Each project is documented as a technical drawing plate: an exploded diagram, numbered callouts pointing at the real mechanism, and dimension lines carrying the measured figures. That is the depth a technical reader wants, deliberately kept out of the way of a recruiter who is qualifying.
